The United States Department of Labor has passed labor laws to prevent child abuse in the work place. It is illegal to receive any sort of job at a public place if you are only thirteen. The government requires that you be fourteen years of age, plus you must receive a work permit. 14-year-olds are only permitted to work three hours a day, on a school day and not any later than 7pm. You also cannot work more than 18 hours per week. Many employers cannot afford to pay to employ workers that have a limited legal working time. Most places will require that you be 16 years of age. Once you are 16 there are no time requirements at this time. I'm sorry that you cannot get a summer job, but you can try many other things. You may cut grass or babysit. For more information please visit http://youthrules.dol.gov/ that website has all requirements listed.
-Hope this Helps-
How can I get a summer. Job
There are plenty of places where a 14 year old find a summer job that pays in Tucson, Arizona. They could babysit.
First, a 14 year-old could practice spelling and grammar in order to fill out a job application. Then perhaps a 14-year-old could babysit or walk dogs or pick fruit on Sauvie Island in the summer.
Not many employers will hire a 15-year old in Arkansas. One place you could look is at a swimming pool or school summer program.
It's bad for a 20 year old to not have a job. Period.
