In Genesis 7 we are told that "all the fountains of the deep were broken up and the windows of heaven were opened" thus producing rain and flooding that covered the whole earth and the rain continued for 40 days and 40 nights. In Genesis 7:24 we learn that the waters continued to cover the earth for 150 days after the rain stopped.
In Genesis 8 God sent a wind to pass over the whole earth thereby causing the water to evaporate (a physical law still in effect today) and suspend in the atmosphere as clouds. The water receded into the fountains of the deep from where they came and after the time stated, Noah and his family was able to walk out on dry land.
All of the water that rained and flooded during this time is still here but climate change wasn't the only thing that happened to the earth after the flood. There is good evidence that all of the land mass on earth was in one piece. Sometime after the flood it was broken up into what we have today. Plate Tectonics explains, or proves, this to be a reality. Therefore the mountain ranges we have now were not as high as they are today so were God to flood the earth again (which He promised never to again-see Genesis 9) the entire earth could not be covered over with water.
Finally, the rainbow is God's sign of this promise to never flood the earth again.

Different animals can survive without water for different periods of time. For example: A fish can not go very long at all without water but a camel can go a very long time without water. Humans can go without water for about 98 hours but after that they are almost dead.
