Sodium is an element that came from stars that are long since gone. When the earth formed from dust and rubble, sodium was part of the mix. Sodium leaches out of rocks from rainwater and collects in the ocean as a chlorine salt.

Pure sodium isn't found anywhere naturally, it is too reactive and will always combine with something. The most common place to find sodium is in common salt, that is made up of sodium and chlorine. If you want pure sodium, you just need to separate it out from whatever it is combined with.

It can come from sodium chloride, NaCl. This is then electrolyzed, with the two half-reactions

Na+(aq)+e- -->Na(s)

2Cl-(aq)-->Cl2(g)+2e-

for a total reaction

2Na+(aq) + 2Cl-(aq) -->Cl2(g) + 2Na(s).

Seawater is a good place to find Sodium.

Where can you find sodium in earth or ocean?

Sodium is found in the Earths crust!! But i don't know about the ocean!! And Sodium is salt!!

Where can Sodium be found today?

every where on earth But in quantity in the oceans as NaCl.

Where is sodium metal generally found?

It is not found as a pure metal on Earth. It can be obtained from its chloride salt (Table salt).

Where is sodium most commonly found on earth?

Sodium does not exist simply as a metal in nature - it's too reactive, so it is found as a compound. Sodium is the sixth most abundant element in the earth's crust at about 2.6 - 3.0%. The most common mineral is rock salt (sodium chloride, NaCl, or halite), but it occurs in many other minerals including sodium borate (borax), sodium carbonate (soda), sodium nitrate (Chile saltpetre). and sodium sulphate (thenardite).

Where found sodium?

The cosmic origin of most sodium is from the core of massive stars, where it is the product of the fusion of carbon. The sodium gets ejected from these massive stars when they explode as supernova. Sodium then reacts with water to form sodium ions, which condense into planets, comets etc. when they form, and then the ions dissolve into any liquid water present. However most sodium on earth is found in the crust where it is found in compounds. Sodium it too reactive to be found free in nature.

Is sodium atom in nature?

Yes, sodium is an element that can be found naturally in the Earth's crust and in many minerals. It is a highly reactive metal and is commonly found in compounds such as sodium chloride (table salt) and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda).

What elements are found in Earth's crust?

Oxygen, Silicon, Aluminum, Iron, Calcium, Sodium, Potassium, and Magnesium

What percent of the Earth is sodium?

Sodium, magnesium and pottassium are about 2% of the earth EACH!

Sodium was found in what year?

Sodium was found in 1807.
