Chemical. Most of it is stored in sugars such as sucrose and glucose.
the kind of energy that is in our food is chemical potential energy and its the same thing that gives us energy to play sports of ....even walk.so no food no walk . no walk more fat .more fat then nooo boys or in another case nooo girls.

Enzymes in our stomach acids (pancreatic and bile from the pancreas and liver respectively are the main ones) and to a lesser extent, in our saliva cut the connections between the molecules, which release energy.

Fat stores a lot of energy, usually in a long string of molecules, so there's lots of links to break, therefore containing a lot of energy.

When the food is other animals, the stored form is glycogen.
