The German surrender took place at different places and different dates.Montgomery took the surrender of all forces opposing 21st army group in North Germany on the 4th May 1945,Eisenhower would not meet with the German delegation and send Bedell Smith to sign on his behalf at 02.41 on May 7th. Churchill and Truman were to declare V.E.Day on the 8th but the Russians objected and wanted their signing to take place first ,which happened on the 8th in Berlin. On May 9th the Russians ,determined that they be seen as the liberators of Prague, and not the local Resistance, broke through into the city from the north-west,Schorner,s last forces- in a larege pocket north-east of the city -surrendered only on May 11th.
