However, Burton L. Mack (Who Wrote the New Testament) says there is a trick that seems to come naturally when studying The Bible. One can ask any question of the Bible and get some kind of answer. If the first answer does not appear to be helpful, one can look for another answer to the same question, until the right answer appears. In this way, since the early apostolic age, writers have managed to find all kinds of prophecies in the Old Testament, including prophecies about the coming of Jesus.
One of the most famous such prophecies is Isaiah 7:14, said to prophesy that a virgin would conceive and bear a child. There are several problems with this as a prophecy. First of all, this occurs only in the Septuagint, an early, flawed Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures. In the original Hebrew, this merely says that "the young woman" would give birth, an event that occurred just a few verses later in Isaiah. Also, there is nothing in the context to suggest that any such prophecy refers to Jesus rather than a "virgin" of Isaiah's time, or of any other time - the text never mentions Jesus nor identifies him in any way. The author of the Gospel of Matthew relied on the Septuagint mistranslation, taken out of context, to show that it was prophesied that Jesus would be born of a virgin.
Several of the prophets told of the Messiah coming ,Isaiah told this 700 years earlier. even the prophet Malachi did prophesy about Jesus and his coming.
John the Baptist was most compared to Elijah because both men of God pointed out and told people to repent of their sins because Jesus was coming soon.
Jesus told the parables in the new testament. there are no parables in the old testament.
Micah
No! Jesus was refering to the Holy SpiritAnswer 2:the above answer is completely wrong according to the teachings of Islam:1. The Holy spirit is a great angel who was responsible for the revelations. He is completely different from Jesus PBUH who is a great prophet (human) according to Islam.2. If you mean to ask if the prophet Muhammad PBUH told Muslims about the second coming of Jesus PBUH, YES he did & He told many beautiful things about that.- Muslims believe in Jesus PBUH & we love Him & await His blessed glorious coming.
The parables are found in the new testament and not the old testament as they were told by Jesus.
This story is in the new testament. In fact it is a parable told by Jesus.
Isaiah and john the baptist told of the coming of Jesus.
As mostly all the parables were told by Jesus to people. It is in the new testament.
The prophet Isaiah told the Israelites about the coming Messiah
Jesus told Peter that before the roosters crokes you will deny me thrice.
I am not sure of your question. If this does not answer your question please rephase it. There is only one New Testament in the Bible. The two main divisions in the Bible are the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old testament tells the story of the creation of the universe and then tells us about Abraham, the father of Israel and his off-spring. Then it goes through the history of Israel up to about 400 B.C. Through out the old testament we are told of prophecies of a coming Messiah. The New Testament starts out with the four Gospels of Jesus Christ, the Messiah that was told about in the Old Testament. A Testament is the same thing as a covenant. The Jews lived under the old covenant (Old Testament). Jesus Christ started the new covenant (New Testament.) A Testament: Hebrews 9:16- "For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives........" Jesus Christ shed His blood and died for the New Testament to come into force.
