Aeneas, whose tale is detailed by Virgil in the Aeneid, escaped Troy and ended up in Italy. Virgil elaborated on this minor character in the Iliad and enhanced Aeneas's demi-god status in order to relate a mythical origin to Emperor Augustus.
According to Virgil, Aeneas and a group of his followers escaped from the city of Troy and ultimately founded Rome.

This war was, I think, called the Trojan war. The one where the 'offering to Athene' - The Trojan horse - was used to massacre the Trojans, and end the war. Agamemnon, The Mycenaean king, and Meleneaus, (I think that's how it's spelt,) the Spartan king, went to war because Helen of Sparta went to Troy with Paris, (Prince of Troy,) and left Meleneaus.

The legend does not have Aeneas founding Rome - that was Romulus and Remus. Supposedly after deserting Troy after its capture by the Archeans, Aeneas went via Carthage to central Italy and there in Latinum became the ancestor of Romulus and Remus, but did not found Rome.

There is a legend that Aeneas escaped Troy during the Trojan War and eventually went to Italy. He was said to have founded the Latin city of Lavinium and his son, Ascanius, founded the Latin city of Alba Longa and its royal dynasty. Romulus and Remus were said to be the sons of Rhea Silvia, the daughter of a deposed king of Alba Longa. The story of Aeneas was told in Virgil's poem the Aeneid in the 1st century BC. The Romans fancied themselves as being descendants of the Trojans. Connecting Romulus and Remus with the royal family of Alba Longa served to bridge a 400 year gap between the dates of Battle of Troy and the foundation of Rome
Nothing. Virgil was a Roman writer who wrote about the events following the Trojan War, specifically the journey of Aeneas (a Trojan hero who barely escaped the burning of his city and eventually went on to found a fairly unremarkable city called Rome). Virgil was writing centuries after the Trojan War, so nothing happened to him during said war.
Aeneas was the second best Trojan warrior and Julius Ceasar's ancestor. He became the best Trojan warrior after the death of the great Hector of Troy and went on the find Rome.
