The grasslands are an ecosystem by themselves. Grasslands are in what as known as a grassland ecosystem which usually contains wild flowers, grasses, and herbs.
The physical feature of the Interior Plains that affected the economy of that region is that the soil is really good for agriculture and farming, mainly wheat, grains, soybeans, oil seeds such as canola, sunflower and flax. This made a great debut for that part of Canada, and it became a huge industry. In fact, the Interior Plains are known as "Canada's Breadbasket".

The region known as the Great American Desert became known as America's Breadbasket because as people settled in the area they realized it was great farm land. The area was called a desert because it had no trees but it wasn't really a desert.

the grassland in south Africa is known as veld. It is a temperate region and receives low rainfall. veld is known as a grassland because natural vegetation in this area is predominantly grass.
