The Kindle keyboard is better IMHO. The keyboard version has tactile buttons - instead of a touch-sensitive screen.

The alt button location depends on which Kindle version you have. The original Kindle has a keyboard with the alt key located on the left near the space bar. The basic Kindle has neither. On the Kindle 4, the newest version, you will find the keyboard by pressing the keyboard button found at the bottom of the screen.

My kindle has internet as one of the features in development and I find that it can be slow and sometimes sluggish (and it once crashed my kindle and I had to reset it). Mine is a mark 2 kindle so whether it has been developed better in later editions, I do not know.
