The Acropolis is a flat-topped rock which rises 150 m (490 ft) above sea level in the city of Athens.

On the Acropolis is built the Parthenon a temple built for the Greek goddess Athena in the 5th century BC

The Acropolis is a natural land form and Parthenon a construction of man, both are very beautiful but both are linked one to another.

In my opinion the location of the Parthenon makes its beauty and the Acropolis would just be another rock without the Parthenon's presence.

An Acropolis is a Greek word, "Acro-" comes from the greek word for center or high point and "poli or polis" comes from the Greek word for city. (Hense Metropolis-City Area or the name Constantinople- in Greek Constantinopoulis means city of Constantine). The acropolis is literally a term for the highest point in a city. The Parthenon, was built on top of the acropolis.

Parthenon comes from the greek word for "temple for the god" Most temples were to honor a god, so technically all temples were Parthenons. If a temple served to honor all or many gods then it was called the PAN-Theon or Pantheon. "pan" meaning all and "par" meaning one. But most people reference other temples as temples and when we speak of THE Parthenon or THE acropolis we reference to Athens' Arcopolis and Athens' Parthenon.
