Dialectical materialism is the major philosophical theory with which Marx is associated. From this starting point Marx sees history as a series of class struggles brought about by the particular mode of production (materialism) that exists at any one point in history. These class struggles result in changes in society as one system evolves into the next. Capitalism evolves into Socialism which then evolves into Communism. Marx believed that all of this is explained by his philosophy of dialectical materialism.
Marx essentially believed that history was made up of cycles of class warfare between the proletariat (the lower, working class) and the bourgeoisie (the upper class who owned and controlled the means of production). He felt that one day the proletariat would rise up in a revolution, overthrow the bourgeoisie, and create a totalitarian government that essentially would own all business. The totalitarian government (the 'Dictatorship of the proletariat') would be necessary to eliminate all vestiges of the former capitalist system ensuring that there be no return to the capitalist system even for a short time. This would ensure the transition to what Marx called "scientific socialism" as a precursor to Communism. Eventually, Socialism would evolve into Communism. Government would wither away as unnecessary, private property would be no more and people would contribute according to their ability and receive according to their need.
Karl Marx was closely associated with the development of the theory of communism, along with Friedrich Engels. He is best known for his criticisms of capitalism and his publication of "The Communist Manifesto" in 1848, which advocated for the establishment of a classless society where the means of production are owned by the workers.
Marx is closely associated with the political and economic system known as communism. However, Marx's vision of communism bears no resemblance to the communist systems in place in the world today. Marx's view was almost Utopian in nature, whereas communist systems in place now are tyrannical. They oppress the very class of people Marx thought communism would benefit the most.
Karl Marx is most closely associated with communism.
His closest associate was Friedrich Engels, with whom he wrote 'The Communist Manifesto" and other works. Engels also edited parts of Marx's largest work, 'Das Capital.'

Karl marx
The concept of a classless society is most closely associated with communism, where there is no private ownership of the means of production and everyone is considered equal.
He created the base for communism known as Marxism. He died before the communist movement kicked off.
Karl marx
Marx was closely associated with the communist movement. His ideology was adopted by Russian dissidents such as Vladimir Lenin to convince the workers in Russia that they would be better off overthrowing the Tsarist regime and adopting a communist form of government. Marx had no direct role in the Russian Revolution because he had died before it took place.
