The area of the CNS that is most concerned with balance is the cerebellum. The cerebellum also controls posture and coordination.

in reality the brain doesn't help you maintain balance. it has to do mostly with your ear. there is a structure in your ear that maintains your balance which are the hairs. you can damage those by listening to loud noises constantly such as listening to ipods are other music devices at a high volume. if I'm not mistaken there is also another part of your ear that helps keep your balance and unfortunately i just forgot. you should look into that in depth.
Balance is controlled by our ears (believe it or not)

The vestibular apparatus in the inner ear is responsible for keeping balance/equilibrium.

The back is the part of the human body also known as the English Area.
I know that the big toe is responsible for balance.
motor area which is located in cerebral cortex .

The kidneys are primarily responsible for controlling fluid levels in the human body. They regulate the balance of water and electrolytes by filtering the blood and producing urine. Additionally, hormones such as antidiuretic hormone (ADH) and aldosterone also play a role in regulating fluid balance.

The liver does many things for the human body. It keeps it in balance by filtering out many of the toxins.
Homeostasis
The musculoskeletal system is responsible for moving the body. In involves both skeletal and the muscular systems.
Oxygen plays a massive role in the human body. Oxygen is responsible for delivering nutrients to the cells in the human body.
The human body maintains balance and equilibrium by using the eyes and the middle ear. If the input from both do not "match" in the brain, a person will feel a lack of balance. Such occurs after drinking alcohol in excess.
The brain controls body temperature, water balance, and sleep.
