One would be Wernher Von Braun who was a Nazi scientist who was responsible for creating the the V1 (doodlebug) and V2 rocket during the second world war.
After the war he sucessfully negotiated an amnesty for himself and his collegues and worked for the American Space program eventually culminating with the Apollo Series.
Von Braun died in 1977.
The first rockets were invented in China sometime between the 9th and 13th centuries (A.D). These were black powder rockets that were essentially what we would call fireworks today, but were technically what are known as solid fuel rockets. The Russian Konstantine Tsiolkovsky was the first to seriously propose a liquid fueled rocket in 1903.
The first twin towers of the NBA were Ralph Sampson and Hakeem Olajuwon. They played together for the Houston Rockets in the 1980s and were known for their height, skill, and dominance on the court.
Kenny "The Jet" Smith - best known for his time with the Houston Rockets, and is currently an analyst for TNT.
They were supposedly invented in China around the 11th century to ward off the Mongol invaders. later on in history, a British engineer named William Congreve took to the skies with a new rocket design inspired by Tipu Sultan's Mysore rockets. These Congreve rockets utilized stabilizing fins to keep its aim true, though this came into little effect. Even farther in history, before World War II, a man named Robert Goddard invented the first rocket to use liquid-fuel propellent. During WWII, the German Army ( Die Wehrmacht ) developed a rocket called the V-2, which was designed to strike Britain from German-occupied France. The Soviet Union also developed a military rocket called the Katyusha rocket, which with proper coordination and weather conditions, could be used very effectively. Later, during the Cold War, Russia launched a satellite into space called Sputnik-1 using rocket propulsion, which prompted the United States to delve deeper into rocket technology. The United States put the first humans on the moon on July 20th, 1969 using rocket technology. Several technological innovations later, and you have the modern rocket in its various forms ( ICBM, Space shuttles, MRBM, SRBM, the list goes on ).

Konstantin Eduardovitch Tsiolkovsky, Robert Hutchings Goddard, and Hermann Oberth are the three men known for their work with rockets. They designed the first liquid and solid propellants.
Pedro Paulet, Dr. Robert H. Goddard, and Wernher von Braun are all known for their work with the first liquid or solid propelled rockets. Paulet is known as a â??father of aeronauticsâ?? while von Braun later developed and built the V-2 rocket weapon.

Goddard did not create a rocket that went into space. He created the first liquid fuel rocket which was which lead to space rockets and for this is known as the father of modern rocketry. The first rocket to reach space was the V2 rocket made by the Germans during World War 2 as a weapon to deliver bombs.
The persons name is not known. Though it is thought that the Chinese were using rockets before any other civilisation.

Robert H. Goddard was a scientist who worked on rockets. (Gives a whole new meaning to the term "rocket science"!) Goddard was known as the Father of Madern Rocketry. He built and launched the first liquid fueled rocket. Sadly, he was considered foolish because of his dream about space flight.
