This was the richest/ highest standing class in the colonies. They usually were the ones that owned large plantations or church officials. They lived large, i mean why not when you have the money.

Gentry was the highest social class in the colonies. Since many had much money from their profitable jobs they gambled much and lived large. The women of the house hold were able to import better fabric for there clothes because they were so rich. They basically just lived large.
