John first recognized Jesus.
(John 21:7) Therefore that disciple whom Jesus used to love said to Peter: "It is the Lord!" Hence Simon Peter, upon hearing that it was the Lord, girded about himself his top garment, for he was naked, and plunged into the sea.
It was after Easter.
It is Christ the lord has risen today.
We can encounter the risen Lord through prayer, the sacraments (especially the Eucharist), reading and studying the Scriptures, and through acts of service and love towards others.

The first person to come to the tomb was Mary Magdalene.
St. Peter, originally named Simon, was a fisherman born in Behtsaida along the shore of the Sea of Galilee. He became, at the urging of his brother St. Andrew, a follower of Our Lord. Eventually he was appointed by Our Lord to lead his Church as the first pope.
Saint Andrew was not Jewish. He was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus and is recognized as the patron saint of Scotland, Russia, and Greece. He was born in Bethsaida, in the region of Galilee, which was predominantly a Jewish area.
The candle indicated light - ray of hope. It shows the light of the "Risen Lord".
