yes. much more. OT - need master's degree. PT assistant - associates degree. more school = more $$

not true the COTA ( certified occupational therapy assistant) and the PTA (physical therapist assistant ) make about the same ... both can have a assoc or BS degrees: varies by state ( some PTA's are licenced- eg PTA's in MICH.) PT & OT pay varies by the way either use their skills and if employed by same employer at same job level pay may well be the same . Opportunities to enhance the pay check occur in all professions

no. nurses get paid more than physical therapist. due to the knowledge of more things in the human body. Not true. A Physical Therapist, as opposed to a physical therapy assistant, typically has a higher earning potential than a Registered Nurse. Physical Therapists in the US today must have a minimum Masters level degree and it is fast approaching that a PhD will be required for certification and licensing. RN certification does not even require a degree, although many new nurses graduating will leave college at minimum with an Associates degree, some with Bachelor of Science in Nursing, due to the length of time it takes to be accepted in a nurisng program and to complete that program. A degree is, however, not yet required to become a Registered or Licensed Practicing Nurse.

Can a Physical Therapy Assistant deviate from the plan of care?

Physical Therapy Assistant can not deviate from the plan of care. As a part of their job duty their role is to follow the treatment plan created by Physical therapist. I think in Texas and California( I am sure in USA as whole) PT is the one who makes the treatment plan and not PTA. In Texas or California this is the law for PTA. Hope it helps.
