I've never heard or read of the Roman Catholic Church providing help during the Irish Potato Famine. It's possible that they ran some of charitable soup kitchens, but bear in mind that the RC Church in Ireland would have been badly affected by the situation, too. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.
