Morgan Freeman is an iconic African-American character actor (born June 1, 1937) who has appeared in dozens of high-profile roles in a wide range of films over the past 40 years. He has been nominated for five Academy Awards, winning one as Best Supporting Actor in 2006 for "Million Dollar Baby." He portrayed the President of the US in "Deep Impact" (1998), Nelson Mandela in "Invictus" (2009), and God in two comedies ("Bruce Almighty" and "Evan Almighty"). He also appeared as Lucius Fox in the "Dark Knight" movie series.
In the early 1970's, he was "Easy Reader" on TV's Sesame Street.
Beginning in 2010, he appeared in the Science Channel series "Through the Wormhole" which in 2013 became "Beyond the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman."
