The captain of Uruguay was José Nasazzi Yarza (24 May 1901 in Montevideo - 17 June 1968), Uruguayan footballer. He had won the gold medal in the Olympic Games of 1924 and 1928 with the Uruguayan Football Team. He retired in 1937.
The Uruguayan professional football club "Club Atlético Bella Vista" stadium is named after him.
