There isn't a single author of One Thousand and One Nights. It is a collection of Middle Eastern folk tales and stories compiled over centuries by various authors and storytellers. The most famous frame tale of the collection is about Queen Scheherazade.

∙ 13y ago1001 Arabian Nights was a long story told by a middle eastern woman. She had been married to a king known for killing his wives the morning after their one-night honeymoon. So this woman decided that before bed, she would tell him an exciting story with a cliffhanger at the end. The next day, the king realized that he didn't want to kill the woman because he wanted more of the story. So she continued the story the next night, ended it with a cliffhanger, and repeated the process. She did this for an unknown amount of time, though the story is called 1001 Arabian Nights for a reason. What I've just told you in itself was not the book. It was the story that the woman told to her husband.
