His name was Peter Benchley but he died February of 2006 ...after he wrote the book Jaws he decided to get into sharks more and find out about them so they actually became something that he obsessed over. He has done many charities since Jaws and was a major part of the Shark Savers. His wife, Wendy, who just celebrated her 70th birthday, went through all of this with him and was an amazing support. She is still living now and still looooves marine life and is traveling around the world. I was very, very close with Peter and he passed away when I was the small age of 6.
Peter Benchley wrote the book and the script to the movie- he sadly died a few years ago- for more info on him and Jaws read his book Shark Life.
