If you go according to the original trilogy, it is Darth Vader who is shown first in episode IV: A New Hope. He is boarding Princess Leia's Blockade Runner. Then it shows Leia, R2-D2, C-3PO, and then Luke. Then the others fall into place as the main main character, Luke, meets them.

∙ 10y agoIf you view the movies as a whole it is the rise, fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker thus making him the main character (or protagonist). However if you view them separately, Luke is the main character in episodes IV-VI while Anakin and Obi-Wan are the focus of the prequel trilogy.
