He is known as one of the most controversial artists of the 90's, his music expressing themes related to violence, death/suicide, rebellion, drugs, sex, and other subjects considered to be disdained. One of the Nine Satanic Statements (the very first) states that a satanist represents indulgence rather than abstinence, as in: to please oneself rather than to refrain from pleasure. As many may know, Marilyn Manson has not been hesitant in following this statement, including the rest of the Nine Satanic Statements.
