Lawrence Gonzi was the Prime Minister of Malta in 2009. Leader of the Nationalist Party, Gonzi was appointed as Prime Minister on 2004 March 23, following the resignation of Edward Fenech Adami as party leader. Gonzi has also served as Minister of Finance and he served as Deputy Prime Minister for 5 years before becoming Prime Minister.
