I believe you mean a model 25 wards western field. I have been researcing the same gun .My gun is serial number XNH-830A. All I have found out to date is it is a Savage model 520A.No idea of the year of manufacture.
AnswerProofhouse.com says the XNH was used on Wards guns made by Nobel. But it only lists two particular models - and one of them is identified as a Marlin! AnswerI can only offer a little clarification on both guns described. The 25XNH-830A is a private label Nobel Model 33A manufactured from 1953 - 1955 if with a wood stock. Nobel made the same gun with a Tennite stock from 1949-1953. If XNG truly stands for guns manufactured for Wards by Nobel, the only other Nobel pump 22 that I am aware of is Model 235.As luck would have it, I was given a model 235 western pump 22 by my father at Christmas. He purchased it new in Cheyenne Wyoming while in the Airforce. He purchased it from Montgomery Wards. Mine has the wood stock, it has the markings Nobel Mfg. on the barrel along with the city and state of mfg which shows it was made in Mass. He purchased it in 1953.
A Wards Western Field Model 41 is a 22-caliber rifle. It was actually manufactured by Mossberg, but intended for Wards. Manufacturing took place primarily from 1935 to 1939.

About half a dozen companies made shotguns for Montgomery Wards through most of the 20th century.
The model number of your Wards Western Field.
I have a Wards Western Field EJN-750 in .243, built on a Sako L57 action, number 3091. I purchased it new at the Montgomery Wards in Albany, NY in 1960. I believe it was manufactured in 1959 or 1960, but been unable to identify who manufactured it for Wards. There was another EJN-750 in .306 on the sale table, but I couldn't afford another $68 for it!
I would guess it was made by Stevens.
