No one .. It was the other way around the church taught that bull.. I believe it was Copernicus that said the sun was the center of the solar system and for fear of the church didn't publish his work till the end of his life
Geocentric model that was prevalent in the middle ages said that the Earth was in the center of the solar system (in fact of the universe) and all other planets revolved around it. Modern science says that in the solar system the Sun is at the center and all its planets revolve around it.
He wasn't wrong. He said that the Sun was the center of the solar system and that the Earth moved around it, not the other way.
If you ask anyone he'll say Nicolas Copernicus, but about 1500 years ago Indian Master of Astronomy and Mathematics, Aryabhtta claimed that the Earth revolves around the sun and that the sun is the center of the solar system.
The Earth-centered or "geo-centric" model.
why do you think people didn't believe copernicus and galileo when they said the earth wasn't in the center of the solar system
Although there were several thinkers which proposed something like the heliocentric model before him, Copernicus is identified most with the idea; and it took his name, the Copernican system, contrasting with the geocentric model that identified Earth as the center, known as the Ptolemaic model.
it means that Copernicus ( the discoverer ) felt as if the sun is the center of the universe. ptolemy and Copernicus bumped heads for years because ptolemy belived that the earth was the center of the universe
