Unfortunately organisations such as Autism Speaks are working on a cure for Autism. It should be noted that Autism is a neurological difference, it doesn't need to be cured and it cannot be separated from the individual so the only way to 'Cure' Autism is to wipe out Autistic people. A 'cure' for Autism would basically be Eugenics, preventing Autistic people being born.

∙ 9y agoUnfortunately many people are trying to cure Autism, this comes largely from ignorance and prejudice towards Autistic people. Autism is not a disease but a difference in how the brain is structured, it is thus not separate to a person or something that happens to a 'normal' person, Autism is who a person is and thus cannot be separated from the person.
The only way to 'cure' Autism would be to get rid of Autistic people, organisations such as Autism Speaks seeks to do this through pre-natal screening to allow parents to abort fetuses which would be Autistic. Essentially to 'cure' Autism is to support Eugenics, what Autistic people need is acceptance and treatment to ease the negative characteristics of Autism.

A cure would mean ridding the world of autistic people, most likely via pre-natal screening and abortion - essentially it would be eugenics, ridding the world of an entire group of people seen as inferior by a society. This is prejudice and given the contributions made to humankind by autistic people (consider where we'd be without computers or mathmatics, and consider a world without Newton, Tesla, or Einstein) the last thing people should want is to cure autism.
Most autistic people hope there is never a cure, we aren't sick so don't need to be 'cured' we need acceptance, support, and inclusion. We're different, not less.

Autism is a neurological variation, in order to cure autism what you're talking about is eradicating the existence of autistic brains - thus Autistic people. Autism isn't a fault in a person or something to be eradicated - to suggest curing autism is like suggesting we should eradicate black skin from the human population, seeking to eradicate an entire group of people from the human race is eugenics.
