Juan José Pérez Hernández, Juan Francisco de la Bodega y Quadra, and Bruno de Heceta (Hezeta) y Dudagoitia explored inland for Spain. Later James Cook explored the coast for Great Britain. Lewis and Clark explored for the United States. George Vancouver and David Thompson explored for Great Britain.
