There is much debate among various Bible scholars about Mary Magdalene. Some say there were three Marys - Mary of Bethany, Mary of Magdala and a Mary associated with the sinner mentioned in the New Testament. Catholic scholars tend to say there was only one Mary and she was the sister of Martha and Lazarus of Bethany.
