It is widely thought that the first black dentist in the UK was Edward Tull Warnock. He practiced in Scotland in Aberdeen, Girvan and Glasgow. He qualified with his L.D.S. (Glasgow) in 1910. His brother Walter was the second professional black footballer, playing for Spurs among other clubs. Walter was also the first black officer in the British Army.

∙ 12y agoDr. Robert Tanner Freeman was born in 1846 in Washington D.C. and was the son of former slaves from North Carolina.
He was the first African-American to graduate from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and may have been the first African-American awarded a dental degree in the United States.
He died in 1873.
