To find who were the oldest people to voyage the waters by boat we can look at where the oldest boats where ever discovered. China over 7000 years ago. http://www.china.org.cn/english/travel/50131.htm I also assume, but may be mistaken, that the peoples of Mesopotamia and North Africans too would have had very early water transportation to fit their geographical location. (Tigris, Euphrates, and Nile rivers)
