The Mayas are the people who lived a long time ago and they had to build their own houses out of clay.

The Mayas were an ancient civilization that were very smart and lived near what is now called the Gulf of Mexico at around 900 b.c. and started disappearing and no one knows why.

the Mayas were Indians from along time ago... they made stone pyramids ans other things.

The Classical Maya were Pre-Columbian and Mesoamerican settlers in Central America. Most of them were in Belize, Guatemala, Western Honduras, and the Yucatan Peninsula in Southern Mexico. They developed a highly organized political society based on kingship and a priesthood, and invented complex mathematics, a hieroglyphic written language, and a calender. Classical Mayan culture declined before European contact, probably due to resource problems. Today, about 7 million Maya live in their traditional areas, plus other parts of Mexico, El Salvador, the United States, and Canada. More than 20 Mayan languages are still spoken.
