A wiki is a "living document." It's not necessarily a discussion board or a place to throw out random opinions. The purpose of WikiAnswers is to "grow" real answers to real questions using the expertise of every Contributor. Each Contributor can edit the answers to a question as he or she feels fit. This means that a single Contributor can change an answer completely in a few swift actions. WikiAnswers does have standards, though. A group of supervisors monitor various topics. These folks have certain abilities, and responsibilities that go along with them, to repair vandalism more easily than the average Contributor. In general, though, '''all''' the Contributors "self-censor" this site. Because this isn't a discussion forum, sometimes an answer can drift away from its original question. A Contributor can choose to split that answer off into a new question, or just nuke the off-topic answer/discussion. Another farmer could add it back, if desired. (It's considered "bad form" to get into an edit war, where two people keep switching the answer back & forth between two different opinions. Instead, a new answer is added, or a new bullet item under a list of opinions can be added.) One thing to note, though, is that each question remembers its change history. You can always fish through the changes, using the "History of Changes," to see what used to be shown, if you really like. If you see an answer disappear, and you really think it should stay up there, add it back. If somebody else takes it out, though, then maybe it's a hint that your answer isn't applicable, or is objectionable to others.
