The cosmos is important to indigenous people because it allowed them to track the stars. During different seasons, the constellations are in different locations, using the stars, it allowed these people to project when to plant crops, and when to harvest them, as well as predict migration routes for animals that they regularly hunted. Knowing when to plant crops, and being able to hunt effectively are critically important when living a primitive lifestyle.
