Unfortunately that is one of the downfalls of a Wiki-based system. However, Supervisors have a revert tool which - in a few clicks - can restore an answer to a previous state. If you find such a vandalized answer, please report it to a Supervisor.
WikiAnswers does not allow thoughtful, correct answers to be replaced with snarky, incorrect responses. It is completely against WikiAnswers' rules to do so.
No, it is not. WikiAnswers is a very good source of information. Although some answers may be incorrect, most answers are correct and very detailed.
Anyone can put an answer to a question and there are some users who put random answers. WikiAnswers tries to correct these type of answers to the correct ones, but they can't be all caught so that is why you will find some incorrect or nonsense answers.
To make answers on WikiAnswers right, you click on 'improve answer' when you see an incorrect answer, and then you can change it. The 'improve answer button is located just beneath the answer to a question.
Sadly, there is no way of stopping incorrect answers from being added to the site. The only thing we can do is remove them and work on another, correct answer.
WikiAnswers cannot guarantee that all the answer supplied are correct. This is because contributors from all areas and all walks of life can answer and edit and question, therefore not making all answers 100% correct.
While the majority of answers on WikiAnswers are accurate, there are some answers posted that are not, as well as answers that have been vandalized. But there are Supervisors who are constantly patrolling the site, as well as many knowledgeable contributors who continually add valuable, correct information and remove the incorrect and vandalized answers.
All answers are 100% accurate and we at wikiAnswers check each and every answer to make sure they are correct.
The reason an answer might be incorrect is because this is a "Wiki". That means anyone can come and edit it. If you see something 100% incorrect use the flag tool to mark the questions for review.
If you know an answer is wrong then correct it, that is how WikiAnswers works.
There is no way to guarantee that the answers on WikiAnswers are all 100% correct.
The reason that websites such as Wikianswers have many incorrect or bad answers is because of who is allowed to answer or edit questions. Every user is given the right to answer questions that they feel fit for answering. Some users are not qualified and do not know how to access the correct information at times, which is the reasoning for answers being answered wrong.
