Compared to many other vegetables potatoes are not particularly healthy, but are not unhealthy. On the other hand chips are usually fried and are drenched in salt and fats that are bad for you.

Chips typically contain excess amounts of salt, artificial flavoring, and trans fat. Taking a relatively healthy food and then frying it makes it worse for your body.
