The chain operates a switch inside the fan's casing.
It is most likely that switch is stuck in the "on" position" and less likely that the chain itself is stuck in the casing somehow.
Ask someone who knows how to work safely on electrical appliances to check that switch to find out if it can be fixed or if you will need to buy a new switch and have it fitted.

As always, if you are in doubt about what to do, the best advice anyone should give you is to call a licensed electrician to advise what work is needed.
Before you do any work yourself,
on electrical circuits, equipment or appliances,
always use a test meter to ensure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized.

SAFELY AND COMPETENTLY
REFER THIS WORK TO QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS.
Are you referring to a regular paddle fan or an exhaust fan? In simple terms, if there isn't already a pull chain there you cannot add one (unless there are provisions for one and it has just broken off). You're better off using a switch to control the fan.
If it is a ceiling fan, then there is a little chain on the base of the fan, not the light chain...usually on the opposite side, that you need to pull and it will change direction.
Hi,I have two ceiling fans, and both are three speed. On mine I just pull the one chain three times to get up to top speed. If top speed isn't moving enough air, You have to get a bigger fan with a bigger motor.Look here:http://www.hansenwholesale.com/ceilingfans/default.aspGood Luck, Leon
The string activates a switch in the fan.
cause there stuck to your head
yes
no, no it cannot
Just remove the old light and install the new pull chain light connecting the black wire to the copper screw and the white wire to the silver screw. There is no connection for the ground wire. Just shove it back into the ceiling box.
Two options. Change the fixture to a keyed pull-chain, or add a pull-chain adapter to the existing fixture. Both available from Home Depot and others for about $3.
Look inside the light kit where the light pull chain turns the light on/off. You will find a black box and trace these wires to the pull chain and light if they are not clearly labeled.
A dirty or old ceiling fan pull chain switch.
When he goes to hit you with his ball and chain, hookshot onto the ceiling. When he swings it and he is about to pull it back, drop down from the ceiling and slash his tail with the sword. Hope i helped and good luck!
if you cant pull it out then try to get your pig to drink if all fails take your pig to the vet immediatly.

you will probably have to hit the eject button, then pull on the CD tray if it is stuck closed with a CD jamming it. Be careful not to pull too hard, or you could damage the drive
No, It does not jam that easily. More often a dart will get stuck in the chain and not move at all, or come out partially in which case you must pull the dart out.
