The Earth's atmosphere creates distortion and acts as a filter to prevent a perfectly clear view of space. Outside our atmosphere, there is nothing blocking the view.

That and there is less light from cities and stuff to interfere with the telescope.

Why can a hubble space see farther into space than a telescope?

The Hubble can see further into space because it orbits outside of earth's atmosphere.

Why does a space telescope produce a clearer image then an earth based telescope?

There is less dust in space than earth.

Is Hubble telescope bigger than earth?

No. The Hubble Space Telescope was built on Earth and launched into space. It is about the size of a bus.

How has the Hubble space telescope helped NASA?

Most large earth bound telescopes cannot see clear images of objects in deep space. Our. atmosphere distorts the pictures with shimmery air. The HST (Hubble Space Telescope) has the advantage because it is in space and has almost no distortion. It can see much farther than regular telescopes.

Why did people need the telescope?

to try and see what space is like closer and farther than the unassisted eye can normally see.

Why does the HST get better pictures than a telescope earth?

The Hubble Space Telescope doesn't get affected by the Earth's Atmosphere. It also has the advantage of being in space so the quality and variety of images are a lot greater then any optical telescopes on Earth.

What is something you might look through a telescope to see?

More than you can see from earth. The earth's atmosphere (and light-pollution) diminish what one can see with a telescope on the surface of the earth. From space the telescope can see much further in both space and time - the light from something we can see in space left that object many years ago. The light from the sun takes about eight or nine minutes to get to earth. The light from the nearest star takes about four years to get here. The farther back you can see across space, the farther back in time you are looking. If you are a child, then i would recommend the national geographic 50mm telescope. you can get these from argos. They are very good, for you can view the moons craters, jupiters moons, saturns rings, mercury, and much more, they can also be used to see things in the same room as you, but can still show very high quality images

Why did they build the hubble space telescope?

On our ability to view space is limited because of all the particles in our atmosphere that filter or refract light as it passes from space to us. The Hubble Space telescope was built to be an orbiting Telescope that was out of our atmosphere. It was used to probe the earliest reaches of the universe. The Hubble is roughly 370 miles from the Earth's surface. The newest space telescope created by NASA is the James Webb Space Telescope. That will be far more powerful than Hubble and will be in orbit around the sun 1 Million miles from Earth.

What can be seen from out of space?

In outer space, you can see the Earth, as well as planets, moons, the sun, and other stars, without being hindered by the Earth's atmosphere. It is much clearer, and having the Hubble space telescope in Earth orbit allows it to see much more than any optical telescope could ever see on the Earth's surface.

How close can the hubble space telescope get to the sun?

Never more than about 350 miles closer than you can be.That's about 0.0000038 of the total distance from you to the sun.And for about half of the time, the HST is farther from the sun than you are.

Why does the Hubble Space Telescope give clearer images than those from earth?

Hubble does not have to contend with the atmosphere of the earth which bends and distorts images from earth-based telescopes.

Why is the Genesis 1 satellite orbiting earth?

As opposed to what? It was sent to space to test certain aspects of space exploration. And it is orbiting Earth, because that is cheaper than to send it farther away.
