I have witnessed it and generally it is under 10 seconds. I have heard stories about them continuing to run for up to and over 30 seconds but having not been witness to this find it hard to believe.yes you have you are a chicken

Rudimentary nervous action. The chicken is dead, the brain has sent a "fight or flight" message to the muscles prior to the beheading and the runs or flaps about for around 15 seconds after the head is separated from the body.

Random or coordinated movement occurs when the chicken's nervous system (separated from the brain) is shutting down. In some cases a chicken can run around for up to a minute or longer, since the spinal nerves continue to send impulses to the muscles. However, they don't usually run, but just flap randomly about on the ground.

that's more of a myth but it is because the brain is still sending commands through the body after there is no brain it usually lasts a few minutes the most notable cases a Spiders because they can continue to run with out a head for hours before collapsing
