I'm not sure what state you're hunting in, but in many states, the majority of pheasants are stocked into gamelands and parks just before hunting season, from farms, because their are so few left in the wild. Just recently, though, the wild populations have been growing, because of the restrictions on hunting females who lay eggs.

What is the target distance in tournament for traditional bows?

Under the Grand National Archery Society Rules (Governing Body for the UK): 100 yards for men and 80 yards for ladies. Other distances standard for both sexes are 60 yards, 50 yards, 40 yards, 20 yards and 10 yards, juniors shoot the shorter distances relative to their age group. FITA distances (International): 90mtrs for men and 70mtrs for ladies. The other distances standard for both sexes are 50 meters and 30 meters. In competition, after the men have shot 90mtrs they then shoot 70mtrs, the ladies (on separate targets) after shooting 70mtrs will shoot 60mtrs, both men and women will then shoot 50mtrs / 30mtrs. Men and women do not shoot on the same targets in this type of competition.

Can a Browning A-5 shoot 3-inch mag?

If the barrel says"2 3/4 inch shells", don't shoot 3 inch magnums. You might get away with it for several hundred shells, or you may crack the stock or forearm with the next shell you fire. If you want a magnum, go buy one, and save the Auto 5 for pheasants quail, and rabbits.
