Why did Germany not invest in aircraft carriers in World War 2?

1. Politics between the German Air Force and the German Navy.
2. Germany preferred merchant raiding (commerce raiding) verses fleet warfare.
3. Merchant Raiding required submarines.
4. Subs were cheaper to build.
5. MORE subs could be built compared to ONE aircraft carrier.
6. Carriers require escorts (destroyers/cruisers), another weakness (lack of) of the German Navy.
7. Carriers need special aircraft (tougher airplanes to bounce upon tossing decks at sea), and that won't get pulled apart when the arresting cable grabs it (grabs the tailhook).
8. Germany had some "carrier planes" in mind during the budget battles, some were tested, but those airplanes would've been needed to be placed into production...and lots of them (to replace operational losses)...which, again, conflicted with the German Air Force.
