25: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

∙ 12y agoWhen Joseph found out that Mary was pregnant with Jesus, he wanted to break the engagement because he thought that she was cheating on him and anyway, it was disonherable to be pregnant before marriage. But we know that he was a nice man because he wanted to break it quietly so that he wouldn't embarrass her. He didn't end up breaking up with her because an angel explained the whole thing to him.

She was found to be with child and that was against God's law; so it stands to reason that he would want to follow the dictates of the law however, it also says that he was willing to put her away quietly instead of embarrassing her over it, which means that he was a kind man also.
