because he didn't trust intelligence reports warning him of hitler's intentions as he believed that it was allied misinformation designed to bring the ussr into the war. Also he thought that hitler wouldn't invade in june as that wouldn't leave him enough time to defeat the red army before winter set in. As well he believed that hitler wouldn't attack before having defeated britain first.

This condition is commonly completely misunderstood; psychopaths are extremely charming and convincing liars with no remorse or conscience whatsoever.
A normal human being has no defense against them and will always be spellbound on an emotional level, even if rationally they ùight understand they are being misled and abused.

∙ 9y agoI think it was more hope than belief. Britain & France were not prepared (emotionally or militarily) to confront Hitler at the risk of war. They also lacked the means to help Czechoslovakia's defense, because they were geographically distant.
