Because of depression and hypertension. However, there are many reasons someone might feel like they should commit suicide there is depression which makes it so that you see life as if you are alone and don't have others who care for you it could be that this person has recently lost someone who they cared for or it could be something like they broke there favorite pencil and that was the last thing that pushed them into it from having things go wrong one after another no one can really answer that question but that person as to why they did it.

Robin Williams is the only one whom is ever going to truly know what made Robin Williams so depressed, but according to confirmed sources, he was diagnosed long ago with two mental illness issues.

Bipolar disorder, and Addiction to narcotics.

As many as 3 out of 4 diagnosed drug addicts are "dually diagnosed" with a mental illness, such as Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, Schizophrenia, Clinical Depression, and many, many other diagnoses.

Because there is such a high rate of "dual diagnosis" most programs for addiction (to drugs or anything else) INCLUDE at least a screening for mental illness in their services, and often times therapy, referrals to psychiatry, and cognitive behavior therapies within the program.

Addiction and mental illness do not discriminate. These disorders are, across the board, just as brutal to someone whom is an acclaimed actor, comedian, and wealthy philanthropist as they are to a homeless person without two pennies to rub together.

As a matter of fact, there are those who say trying to live with these disorders can often be more difficult when so many people are expecting so much from the patient.

There is little privacy, or ability to simply sit back and "take stock" of one's life in a setting that is non-judgemental and simplistic.

Often the celebrity is surrounded by people who are going to tell the person what they WANT to hear, rather than what they need to hear.

Although, in Robin William's case, it seemed that he had all honest, loving, and loyal family and friends he needed to face his diagnosis.

It has also been shared that he was facing ANOTHER huge medical diagnosis in his life- Parkinson's.

This can overwhelm an individual, as carrying not one, two, but THREE major diagnoses that are all devastating in their own way can lead to severe depression, and , in this case, suicide.

***THOSE WITH DEPRESSION OR THOUGHTS OF SUICIDE SHOULD ALWAYS CONSULT A DOCTOR,

and IF NECCESSARY, GO TO THEIR NEAREST EMERGENCY ROOM.

THE FOLKS AT THE E.R. ARE NOT GOING TO BE SHOCKED THAT YOU ARE THERE FOR TREATMENT,

and they will ACCEPT YOU AND BE KIND TO YOU.

THIS IS NOT UNUSUAL FOR THEM, so PLEASE, if you know someone whom is depressed and ASKING OR DESIRING HELP, OR SHOWING SIGNS OF SUICIDE, (for example, stating they want to die, expressing a plan for their own suicide, giving away their possessions for no apparent reason, or ANY OTHER SIGN THAT MAKES YOU THINK THEY ARE SUICIDAL-

PLEASE GO TO YOUR NEAREST EMERGENCY ROOM AT ANY HOSPITAL and TELL THEM AND THEY WILL GET YOU HELP.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!***

Additional to above answer

Just be aware that some people commit suicide without giving any warning signs whatsoever!

The 'trigger point' is often unknown in most suicide cases, why someone commits suicide while another facing the same problems doesn't, but Depression is always a HUGE factor. 'Depression' is NOT just a case of feeling sad, or telling a person to 'snap out of it!' They can't because the Seratonin levels in their brain are too low !!!

On a personal note, I have a daughter who has clinically-diagnosed Depression , and for many years has been on prescribed anti-depressant medication to increase her Seratonin levels . Recently she was diagnosed with liver damage caused by her medication, and I wouldn't be surprised if she did commit suicide.

Sometimes it is just a tiny little straw that breaks the camel's back, ESPECIALLY if they have been battling other problems for years. I believe that the last diagnosis was simply the last straw for Robin.
