Some people say that Rosa did not leave her seat her seat because she was tired from work. This is not true. She was actually tired of being oppressed by the segregation laws and being treated like a second class citizen, and on that day on the bus she decided to take a stand and say "No". She had worked all day like everyone else and had paid her bus fare the same as everyone else and she believed that she had a right to her seat the same as everyone else.
The myth is that she did not stand up because she was physically tired after a long day at work, and that is not so. Rosa Parks was an active member in the NAACP, which contributed to what she did that day. She addressed the myth in her autobiography;
"People always say that I didn't give up my seat because I was tired, but that isn't true. I was not tired physically, or no more tired than I usually was at the end of a working day. I was not old, although some people have an image of me as being old then. I was forty-two. No, the only tired I was, was tired of giving in. I knew someone had to take the first step and I made up my mind not to move. Our mistreatment was just not right, and I was tired of it."
