Obviously, Titanic was not unsinkable - but many features led people to believe that.

A crewman even said "God himself cannot sink this ship" to Sylvia Caldwell at Southampton.

The Titanic sunk because 4 out of its 16 compartments filled w/ water, but it was only designed for 3 of them to break....

idk

but they

lied , it

sank.

omg what kinda answer was that? they did lie thoe, it sank, alothough it wasnt thought to be "un-sinkable" until afterthe fatal incident. that's kinda wierd, hmm... "the titanic snak, lets call it the unsinkable ship!" those people are so stupid, who would do that? yah, perfect sense. "if a ship sinks, it is definitely unsinkable, i am making erfect logic, how about u Fred?"

"Uhh, yah Tim, u are definitely making perfect sense *u idiot* oh coff coff, scuse me...

Two reasons- first because she had a double hull along her keel, and also because her lower decks were compartmentalised into a series of eight watertight bulkheads, each one of which could be sealed by automatic doors in the event of flooding.

But the crucial flaws with these designs were that the double hull was confined to the keel only, and did NOT extend all the way up her hull. Also, she could remain afloat only if a maximum of three of her bulkheads compatments were flooded- as it was, five were opened to the sea, making the sheer weight of water that entered her to heavy for the vessel to remain afloat.

The Titanic was considered to be a very safe ship due to the latest anti-sinking technology it was built with. The "unsinkable" label, however, was not given very much press until afterthe sinking, for ironic effect. No educated person believed that the ship was truly unsinkable--most were under the impression that it could sink, but that it was highly unlikely.

Because it was designed around several separate compartments and would have remained afloat even if one or two of them would have been water filled. Due to the nature of the accident however, more compartments than had been seen as possible became flooded, and the ship sank.

The Titanic had a hull inside the hull, and was divided into multiple compartments with water-tight doors between compartments. Concept was this would limit any flooding to that one compartment. As we know, it did not work out that way.

At the time it was advertised as unsinkable as is reasonable possible. It was advertise like this because if the safety features on the ship. Titanic had automatic/manual (they could close automatically or electronically from the wheelhouse) water tight doors. water tight bulkheads and compartments thought the ship, the most powerful wireless marconi at sea and it was thought that Titanic was so big that anything big enough to damage it would be seen it time.
Titanic's hull was separated into several sections, known as watertight bulkheads, so that even if a four of the sections was filled with water, it would still be able to float. What happened was that five of these sections was filled with water, and the RMS Titanic started to sink. As it sank, the water flooded over the bulkhead and then in to the next chamber. The result of this is that Titanic sank.
They called the titanic unsinkable because it was a strong ship.

People thought that the design, materials and construction made it unsinkable. However, they were clearly wrong.
