Well maybe she has a crush on him. But it also depends what does she talk about Charles? Does she talk crap or nice thing about him.

Laurie is a boy, smart one^^. Laurie talks about Charles, but Charles is Laurie. So basically Laurie found a loophole on how to tell his parents what he did at school today without them getting mad at him. So basically here's the math.

Charle=Laurie. Laurie=Charles. Laurie is good=Charles is good. Charles is good=Laurie is good. Charles is bad=Laurie is bad. Laurie is bad=Charles is bad.

Get it?

What is true about Laurie's mother in the short story Charles by Shirley Jackson?

In the short story "Charles" by Shirley Jackson, Laurie's mother is gullible and easily influenced by her son's tall tales about an ill-behaved boy named Charles at school. She becomes increasingly concerned about Laurie's behavior, but learns at the end of the story that there is no boy named Charles and that Laurie has been misbehaving himself.

Why is there a picture of Hugh Laurie on Stephen Colbert's desk?

Hugh Laurie (as the ascertained antagonist) and the production/writing team of "House" outdid the "Colbert Report" at the Emmys; then Hugh Laurie received coveted knighthood"(OBE) that Colbert desperately wanted. Colbert then wanted to rightfully acknowledged Laurie, but of course has to do so in a "Colbert" fashion - name Laurie an enemy and talk about him and his awards constantly. "House" actually has a picture of Colbert on his bookcase now (as reciprocal adoration lol).
