they wear 2 swim suits because it slows them down in practice. the 1st suit is a normal fitted suit and the 2nd suit is a baggy loose suit called a drag suit. the drag suit creates drag while you are swimming, if you get used to swimming like this then in competition you will be able to go faster because you wont have the extra weight and drag of the 2nd suit.

∙ 13y agoWater Polo players often wear 2 speedos because players will often grab others' speedos in order to get better positioning during the game and the speedos can sometimes rip. Players wear 2 speedos 1) so that speedos wont rip and 2) it makes it a little harder to grab onto them when there are 2.
I watch a lot of Pac 10 matches and I rarely see any players wearing 2 suits. Maybe
the suits and drawstrings are being made stronger. Often in the old days a broken drawstring was quite common and when it was broken the suit obviously would
not stay up, so if the guy wasn't wearing another suit he could borrow one from a fellow player who was wearing two. But like I said, seldom see that anymore.
