It is because unhealthy foods, such as burgers, biscuits, cakes, crisps, etc contain things the body really wants, in large quantaties. Mainly fats, salts and sugar. The reason we crave these so much is because in the past these ingriedeients were quite rare to find. So our body's go over board thinking that once we've eaten the burger we wont have access to another one for a few months.when in reality we can easily consume one the next day.
The reason healthy foods usually taste bland is because they usually give less energy to the body, something which we had a lack of in the past.
If your in a state of semi starvation are you going hunt down the energy filled, fat filled, burger that will replenish your body 10 times quicker or the measly low energy, bowl of oatmeal?
