It is further from the Sun than Earth, which means it takes longer to orbit the sun, so its year is longer. It's day is longer because it takes slightly longer to rotate, only by about 39 minutes, than Earth does.

They orbit the Sun at different distances, so Saturn must travel a longer path. Also, Saturn travels slower. The ratio of the orbital periods can be derived from the ratio of the distances from the Sun, using Kepler's third law.

It's because Mars is further out, so it has more distance to cover, also the Sun's gravity is weaker, so it goes more slowly.

How long does it take Mars to revolve around the sun?

Mars takes about 686 Earth days (1.88 earth years) to revolve around the Sun. Because Mars is farther from the Sun, its orbit is longer, and it moves in that orbit at a slower speed than Earth.

What is the distance to mars from earth in days and years?

98 days 1000 years

Why does a year on mars take longer than a year on earth?

A 'year' is the time it takes for a planet to orbit the sun. In the case of earth, this is 365 and 1 quarter days. That is why a year lasts for 365 days and every fourth year ( a leap year) we add up all the odd quarter-days to make an extra day which we put into February - as February 29th. Mars, however, takes 687 (to the nearest day) earth days to go round the sun, so a Martian year is 687 days long - or 1.88 earth years.

How old is a 10-year-old on Mars?

A year on Mars lasts 687 Earth days. Do a little math - 365/687=53%.53% of 10 is 5.3 years old or 5 years 109.5 days old.Sort of ...If you want to use Mars years, you should also use Mars days for your final answer.10 Earth years = 5.316886 Mars years. The Mars solar day is 1.027491 Earth solar days.Converting to Mars solar days, 0.316886 Mars years would be 217.7 Earth-days (not 109.5 days) or 211.9 Mars-daysSo in Martian years and days, someone who is exactly 10 Earth Years old would be 5 Mars-years, 212 Mars-days old.(remember the .3 in the 5.3 "years" is Mars-years, not Earth years so you have to multiply it by 687 Earth-days, not 365 Earth-days)

How many earth years is 30 mars years?

Mars orbits the sun once in 687 earth days. 30 Mars years = (30 x 687) = 20,610 earth days 365-1/4 earth days = 1 earth year 20,610 earth days = (20,610 / 365.25) = 56.427 earth years. Why do you ask ?
